Are You Listening to Your “Check Engine Light?”

Imagine traveling down the road, windows down, hair blowing in the wind not a care in the world. Life is good! Then, in the blink of an eye, you notice the dreaded red “CHECK ENGINE LIGHT”  – your heart flutters and you pull over in a panic! You ask yourself, “what do I need to do to fix this so that my car does not have bigger problems?” It’s time to see your mechanic and get a clean bill of health for your car.

Unfortunately, we often ignore our body’s “CHECK ENGINE LIGHT” and warning systems.  Pain, headaches, numbness, tingling and fatigue are only a few of the body’s complex ways of trying to tell you that something isn’t right and that you need help. As Chiropractors, we see this all too often. Patients tend to take care of their cars before they take care of themselves.

These warnings signs are an indication of something deeper going on within the body. The body uses nerves to help detect the symptoms we experience, and to raise awareness of potential threats to our health. Simple activities, like slips, falls, or over stretching, can lead to loss of joint position or mobility. As a result,  pressure & irritation is added to the nerves, and can get worse and become harder to correct if ignored.

It is common nature to want the pain relieved immediately. To put it bluntly, pain HURTS! It affects our activities, moods, and lives. Many will make the decision to try fast, temporary solutions in an effort to silence these cries for help, including:

1. Ignoring the pain: Unfortunately this doesn’t fix anything and can lead to more serious trouble.

2. Bed rest: This is the same as “ignoring it” and delays addressing the problem.

3. Medication: This is a quick cover up, however, a chemical fix to a mechanical problem will never work.

4. Surgery: In some rare cases surgery is necessary, but should be viewed as a last resort and only after conservative care has proven to be ineffective.

Here at Roosevelt Chiropractic, we look for the root cause of your painful symptoms. With the use of gentle Chiropractic treatment, the pressure and irritation on the nerves can be reduced.  This helps to restore joint position and mobility and allows the issue to heal.

If you or someone you know is experiencing pain or headaches, Chiropractic could be a viable treatment option. Why suffer needlessly? Contact us to see if chiropractic care is right for you!
